Learn the technique of sharpening a grafting knife, veneer grafting (side grafting), and after care of conifer and deciduous plants.  I do not supply grafting knives, so it would be advised for you to bring a high quality knife such as (Tina, or Kunde) which are knives made of carbon steel.  These knives sharpen up nicely and hold an edge much longer then a poorer quality knife.  I have heard of people using brake away blades but do not recommend it.  Stainless steel for me is not a good knife due to the fact that the blade is almost impossible to sharpen and will chip when encountering obstacles on or in the plant such as a knot. 

If you can not find a good knife, then I will supply the knife at an additional charge. 

Grafting is an art, which believe it or not is done either with a right or left handed knife.  I am right handed and will only be able to sharpen a right handed knife.  All left handed people will have to be talked through the sharpening procedure. 

I will take you through the steps and give a one on one lesson in the art of grafting for a nominal charge of $100.00 per hour.  Depending on the person and the amount of time needed to achieve the basics of grafting, I believe that the idea and fundamentals can be achieved in 2-3 hours.  I am available for anyone, anytime of the year for such an appointment.  If you are interested in bringing a friend I will accommodate up to 4 additional people for an extra fee of $70.00 per person.

I have nearly 50 years of grafting experience and I am the 8th generation doing this remarkable trade.  I will share my knowledge with plant enthusiast, and this can be done anytime of the year. 

You will be able, when the time is right, to graft and grow your own plants to make available to your friends, family, or have an outright paying hobby.  Be able to graft witches brooms that you discover or any other seedling you might come across that you might think would be interesting for your collection or to other collectors.
